The Pursuing God
God is a pursuing God.
He pursues me with His love.
I treat his love with disgust
I turn my head from his advances. I have my own loves
I chase all manner of other things.
I pursue my own mistresses
God is a pursuing God.
He pursues me with His love.
He is the best, the greatest, the only
Yet I say, “I have my own desires
I don’t want the best, I want this, or that, or maybe this one
Or why not all of them.
God, can I not have them all and have you too?”
God is a pursuing God
He pursues me with His love.
When will He stop chasing me?
When will He say enough?
When will He see that I don’t want His love?
When will he leave me in the wilderness
as I chase after other loves in all of the high places?
God is a pursuing God.
He pursues me with His love.
Don’t turn back yet God!
Hurry! You can still catch me!
I don’t know why I run, but I do need you
Search for me, find me come to me with your love
Pursue me, catch me, make me yours
O, Pursing God, make me yours.
