Money or the Mob
I love setting up mock game shows with my church. It is a fun way to get together and it celebrates some people in your church who might no always get attention (like the little old ladies who know lots about the Bible). At Calvary we set up a game show similar to 1 vs 100, but with Bible trivia. I have repackaged what we used into a couple of .pdf's that you can use in your church. Have fun.
(I noticed that I have repeated the same question twice in the "TOUGH" section. So when you are playing your game take out one of the "How many books of the Bible begin with J" questions. Sorry.
General Info:
- You will first need to gather together a group of people to be your mob. We used our Sunday school teachers, but any group of people can work. I would suggest trying to get at least 20 if you can.
- Also be thinking of people who will be good contestants. (we ended up with everyone who might be able to answer the questions in the mob and not eligible to be contestants)
- You will need to create 3 separate sheets of paper each with the letter A, B, or C on them for your mob. When you ask the question the mob will "lock-in" their answers by putting their answer choice on top and then reveal their answer after the contestant gets a question correct.
- It would also be good to grab a few prizes for contestants. What we did was allow the person who got the most points to pick from the prizes first, the second place person second, and the third place person got the remaining prize.
- You will need a person on a calculator adding up scores for you as you go, so be sure to enlist them before the game begins.
- Contestants are asked 5 levels of questions 3 easy (which everyone should get even if you have to cheat to let them answer correctly) 3 average questions, 3 tough questions 3 hard questions and 1 impossible question for massive points.
- In my rules contestants automatically get the default amount of points for answering the question correctly and then they get points for each mob member who misses.
- We had a bunch of people miss out on the "average" level questions so be ready to run through several contestants.
- I have included enough questions for 3 contestants to go all the way to impossible level. I have also inclosed enough extra questions that you can have as many as 5 people go through the average level questions, and 4 people to get through the tough level questions.
- When I asked a question I simply marked it out on my question sheet so that I wouldn't ask it again. \
- We also supplemented these questions with a few questions about the general workings of our church (who turns out the lights, who coordinates the flowers, what day does the ladies prayer group meet, etc)
