I have talked about countdowns in the past. I really like how they build anticipation, or at least let the band know when they need to head to their places. In the past I have used countdown creator and the site Free Countdowns. I found something today for After Effects users that is even better. It is a little script created by a forum user on the Video Copilot forums. To use it simply head to the forum and follow the directions to download and install the script. When you run the script it will ask you how many minutes you need then it will create a text layer with the countdown. It is very cool.
