Confessions of an Average Youth Minister

So I had this idea to send out cryptic messages to my students with a complicated code that they would have to break in order to access a web site. The web site codes were to lead deeper and deeper until finally opening up on our new Calvary Student Ministry website, and introduce out new logo and name for our Wednesday night gathering (Catalyst). Well, apparently my great plan didn’t quite work, and from what I am hearing from people the clue was way too complicated.

I am putting it up here after the jump so that you can see if you can figure it out, but not only did no one figure it out, I don’t think anyone even went to the web site to try to get in. Oh well, maybe it just hasn’t reached its tipping point yet, and the next clues will be the ones that get the town buzzing.

To make this even more complicated, on the one that I sent the students it didn’t have the numbers on the left. If you can figure it out go to www.catalyststudents.org and make me feel good by sending me an email to let me know you got in.

I don't have all of the answers and some weeks it feels like I don't have any of the answers. I often find a good word picture or object lesson and build the lesson off of that instead of the other way around. I don't always pray as much as I should and I never study as much as I should. But I love students ministry. I love watching teenagers as they serve God. I love to see them worship and forget about themselves for a while. I love seeing someone wake up to the love of God if only for a little while. I love to see them out serving their community and sharing the love of Christ with others. I love to be a part of their lives and I love seeing the world through their eyes. I am an average youth minister.

What age are your kids? Please tell me you’re going to make the clues harder, and not easier.

Got a cool Matrix-y kind of vibe. Take the blue pill and find out how far the revolution really goes.

  2. I’m glad you can actually figure this one out, because that makes me feel better, but without the numbers I have only found one person who has figured it out.

  3. thats easy. its ********* (this is shane I’m editing this so others can play). each line is a letter and where the bar stops it shows what letter it is.

  4. I want to say again, that it is very easy when you have the numbers, but much harder without them.
